I’ve never thought to define my style, but in a recent feature I did I was asked to do just that. I’ve thought a lot about it since then and I’m getting a clearer picture of what my style actually is although I feel like I’m still learning about it.
Why is this something I’m trying to figure out? It’s because your style or the way you put yourself together directly ties in with your personal brand. I know a lot of people don’t believe that but its pretty simple, it’s all about how you want to be perceived, how you want people to feel when they see you, first impressions. Working world or not your brand is everything.
I’m not saying how you look defines your brand, but it definitely plays a role.

So in terms of my style, I’ve realised I love the basics and classics in neutral colours, but I love to add a little trendy twist here and there hence the title of this post – Not So Basic.
This look is about exactly that, all black with a white blazer which stays true to my classics style but the shoes add the trendy twist.
