A Day in the Life of Kopano Mocwane

A Day in the Life of Kopano Mocwane

If we’re talking about ambitious, young, female South African entrepreneurs, Kopano Mocwane’s name instantly comes to my mind. I remember first hearing about Kopano after winning the title of  Miss Teen SA back in 2008 and thanks to social media she never fell of my radar. Kopano has since gone on to become, as she calls it, a Digital Business Queen.

“Watch how your life changes once you make a decision and stick to it” – Kopano Mocwane

It’s easy to understand why she’s one of my #goals once you get to know her.

Getting to know Kopano

I am Kopano Mocwane, I’m 27 years old and I am an entrepreneur, YouTuber and Online Brand and Business Consultant. I have a degree in Financial Management however, I’ve never spent a day in my life working for a financial institute (LOL). Starlight out of high school I worked and lived in the entertainment and communications work. I have almost 8 years of experience working in the online marketing and communications industry. As a result of that, I’ve just learned as much as possible about online brands and business and I’ve turned that into my life and my work!

I work full-time as an online brand and business coach and consultant for small to medium businesses. I do this through my business TKBC Agency through this business, I help entrepreneurs and their employees build their brands and use those brands to build their businesses online.

I also have another business called She Is Tailored, it’s a tailoring company for professional women. I love it and it speaks to my desire to see the modern lady take charge and come alive in today’s bad and boujie world.

I share my #DigitalBusinessQueen adventures on my blog and YouTube channel Kopano The Blog. It’s also my outlet for sharing my natural hair journey and tips as well.

How do you think style plays a role in your daily life and career?

Your appearance is the first thing that you communicate to people and the world before you get the chance to open your mouth and say hello. My style is practical in the sense that it communicates what I need people to know and understand about me at the time and in that situation. So I’m in jeans and a simple tip when I’m on campus, I’m in heels and a suit when I meet my clients and I’m in a fun dress when it’s time to party.

But (big but 🍑) I like to keep it simple, timeless and ladylike. I might not always get it right but I’ll always try!

What is your favorite quote?

Goodness, I used to be such a quote person but not that much anymore. My favourite quotes change all the time… for now it’s “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13

What is the best piece of career advice or lesson you’d like to share?

Firstly, Do it! Don’t overthink it, just do it!

Secondly, stick with it! Don’t give up to early, give each idea and/or opportunity a fair chance to fail. It may not seem like anything special right now but just stick with it, sometimes all you have to do is stick around!

Kopano Mocwane- The Office Edit

A breakdown of what it’s like to spend a day in the life of Kopano Mocwane..

05:30 – wake up slowly… very slowly and get ready for yoga

06:00-07:00 – home yoga session. Yoga is a life changer, it’s amazing for my body, it tones my arms, back, legs…basically everything. Because yoga is all about breathing through every movement it really helps center me, I LOVE IT

07:00 – 09:00 morning routine, this is the one thing that hardly ever changes. My morning routine is all about enjoying my morning. I’ll have a candle lit shower, followed by my morning face and body moisturizing routine. I’d then get ready and sit for breakfast. I usually have cereal or cook soft scrambled eggs for breakfast.

09:00-12:30 this is my work time. This is different everyday! I have a studio office which is the perfect mix of my work office and my Video/photo studio. Once I’m in front of my computer i usually pull out my notebook (I’m a HUGE notebook fan), I take about 5-15 minutes to make a list of to-do’s for the week.

I need about an hour of computer time doing my most important activities. Everyone has a list of basic activities that they need to complete in order to succeed each day, this first hour is dedicated to that. After that I do whatever has to be done.

12:30-13:30 I usually cook lunch everyday. I’m vegetarian and a bit of a health nut so cooking is the best way to get everything you need to get in a meal. I hardly eat salads, lol, but I eat lots of cooked and uncooked veggies. I usually fit in a bowl of fruits somewhere during the day too

13:30-6ish sometimes 7/8ish haha the life of an entrepreneur can be a bit unpredictable but I try to keep some structure to my life. Usually I’m done by 5 but sometimes work gets hectic. April was a super busy month for both of my businesses so I had many 9pm knock off days. It gets crazy sometimes, but I’m working on it

If I have an early day then I like to take a 10km run/walk with my boyfriend

7ish/8ish – cool and eat diner. I cook diner almost every night. I love cooking and it’s therapeutic!

20:00-22:00 veg out on the couch. Vegging Out is very important for the body and soul (LOL)

That’s my ideal day. It’s a bit all over the place but 3 things hardly change, 1 – my morning routine, 2 – cooking lunch and supper & 3 – vegging out for an hour or two on the couch. My days can get crazy but these three things keep me sane!
