Cosmo Hustle 2018: The Influencer Edition

I attended the Cosmo Hustle event and this year it was all about how to be successful as an influencer to celebrate their March Influencer Issue.

I’ve been attending Cosmo Hustle events since they started (see here for last years recap) and I’ve always left with so much insight into what different women in different careers have gone through to get to where they are which is very motivational as well as getting tips and tricks to apply in my life. Needless to say it’s also a great networking opportunity, I got to meet some of my favorite South African insta stars. This year the panel had Aisha Baker founder of BakedOnline, Kefilwe Mabote luxury lifestyle influencer and Sbahle Mpisane fitness influencer.

  • Have a clear voice and brand
  • Be authentic 
  • Have a quality audience

Landing your first gig

  • Network like a pro
  • Go to events
  • Contact the brand manager
  • Post and send follow-up stats
  • Be okay with rejection
  • DM brands for media accreditation

Planning your content

  • Stay organised. Use an app like Google Calendar
  • Schedule content per platform
  • Plan but keep organic content
