So if you follow me on social media, you may have noticed that I’ve been posting all about horses and horseracing lately and you might be wondering what that was all about
Basically I’m part of a few bloggers/influencers who were chosen to go on a horse racing journey of a different kind. We went on a 3 day behind the scenes tour of what really goes on behind the scenes and here I’ll let you in on what went down..
On the first day we went to Randjesfontein Race Track where we got to see how the horses are trained for their big day. From the point where they’re first introduced to racing to fully trained race horses.
On our second day of training we went to Turffontein Racecourse to experience a race. It was actually my first time attending a horseracing event and it really is thrilling. I even bet on a horse but ended up losing 🙁 Hahaa I’m obviously unlucky.
On the last day of our training we went to a horse auction. What’s interesting is all of the horses on auction has never raced a day in their lives so as a bidder you’re mainly bidding based on lineage and not based on how it’s done in races. The big winner of the day went for R900 000!
We also went to the TBA Museum that day and saw a bit of horseracing history
Over the next few months I’ll be posting more as I delve more into racing..
